2002, a good year!
 
The creation of a Single European Payment Area in the European Union has given rise to new initiatives and discussion. In this march towards the harmonisation of payment systems between Member States, the European Commission and the European Parliament also have the support of the European Payments Council, a proactive body established in June 2002.
