CEO Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB
Following the advent of the euro and the launch of the new EMV standard, there are now an increasing number of initiatives to institute a Single European Payment Area. To this end, other entities, such as the European Payments Council, have been created to provide a new point of view and suggest new initiatives, alongside existing European institutions.
Cartes Bancaires, which is steering European projects like FINREAD and c-TRAVEL, plays an active role in the EPC. Our aim is to strengthen the European payments system in which the bankcard plays a leading role, promote the emergence of common card usage across Europe, and boost European cooperation to ensure a greater level of security. These projects along with those of European institutions are presented in this issue focused on SEPA. I trust you will enjoy learning more about them.
