FINREAD card readers developed by Ingenico and Omnikey have been successfully tested in Milan.

Two secure smart card reader manufacturers (Ingenico and Omnikey) carried out a first series of technical tests between 18 February and 7 March, designed to prove their equipment compliance with the FINREAD standard. These tests (each lasting two days) were carried out in Milan in the offices of Actalis, a company created by the Italian banking sector, and specialised in computer security systems. Actalis was acting on behalf of GTA (Global Trust Authority), an independent certification organisation based in Brussels and a partner in the FINREAD project. Cartes Bancaires, as the Trusted FINREAD project coordinator, supervised the tests, whose results open the way to certification procedures for the manufacturers.
