On the 4th June the plenary meeting of the European Payments Council endorsed the findings and recommendation of the Card Working Group.

During the plenary meeting held on the 4th June 2003 the European Payments Council endorsed the Findings and the 8 Recommendations of the Card Working Group. (See CB MAG n°18).
The Cards Working Group is particularly focused on the fight against fraud through the support for the migration of the European bankcards to chip cards.
The principle Recommendation adopted at the meeting: the necessity for harmonisation throughout European in terms of security and the combat against fraud, and the different points of acceptation and networks in the Single Payment Area.
Continuing in this vein, the Card Fraud Prevention Task Force chaired by Cédric Sarazin, Director Business and Strategy at Cartes Bancaires, will hold a two day Forum entitled "Fighting Card Fraud Across Europe" on the 8th and 9th October in Paris, in which experts from Governments, Law Enforcement Agencies, Retailers, Payment Card Schemes and Banks will participate.
