Today, France has over 20 million Net users, of whom
six million are cyber-consumers. One out of every ten people in France
makes online purchases today; e-commerce still has potential for huge
growth. Its good health, despite a relatively lacklustre economic
environment, is reflected in the number of purchases, which increased
by almost 60% in the first quarter of this year.
The annual increase in online sales (up 1.7 billion euros in 2002)
involves both goods and services.
In addition to the trust that is now established in remote payment,
this boom can also be attributed to the increased use of broadband
(ADSL or cable) Internet connection. |
