Distance selling via the Net is taking off in France! This can be attributed, at least in part, to Cartes Bancaires and distance-selling professionals - ACSEL (French association of online retailing and services) and FEVAD (French federation of distance selling companies) - which together have made considerable effort to promote the growth of this new form of consumer purchasing. The primary goal is to provide consumers with card payment options that are open-ended and adapted to the various channels of distance selling. Another major concern is making remote payments secure. With this in mind, Cartes Bancaires has put a proposal to the stakeholders that focuses on the responsibility of all parties involved, and on the adoption of a secure payment architecture.
In this issue's special feature, our readers will find a review of the current status of distance selling in France, the challenges it faces and the projects underway to boost consumer trust and retailer security.
