In order to create a "smart bank card Europe", the CB system is migrating to EMV. This international standard is first and foremost recognition of the French CB model. It is also a major technological step forward with new opportunities for all stakeholders in the CB system: for banks and retailers who will be able to offer new services; for cardholders who will be able to make payments abroad with the same level of security as in France; and for French manufacturers with their renowned experience and expertise.
In this issue of CB Mag, we invite you to take a closer look at the challenges involved in this migration and the mobilisation of all stakeholders behind Cartes Bancaires to ensure the success of this major project.
Furthermore, this development also represents a significant step towards the creation of a Single European Payments Area.
I wish you an enjoyable read.
