The figures speak for themselves: as the volume of bank card transactions is steadily increasing, the CB system provides a level of security unmatched elsewhere in Europe.
This security, the key to consumer confidence, is based on four fundamentals: a contractual agreement between users and card issuers; constantly improving technical measures; highly secure products and processes developed by French manufacturers and approved by Cartes Bancaires; and finally, stiffer penalties enforced by the French Law on Everyday Security (Loi sur la Sécurité Quotidienne).
Today, the challenge is to reach the same levels of security in Europe as in France. The recent creation of the Single Payment Area in Europe and the acceleration in the rollout of EMV are both in line with this goal.
All of these questions are addressed in the feature section of this summer's issue of CB Mag.
