For maximum security, card payment at an AFD requires specific authorisation.

Fill your tank at any time of the day or night and pay by bankcard? It's now possible thanks to automatic fuel dispensers which are available 7/7. Payment is totally secure: once the customer has inserted his card in the reader, keyed in his PIN and selected the type of fuel, the AFD systematically triggers an authorisation request for a standard fixed amount of 70 euros. The server at the customer's bank carries out the standard security checks and verifies the cardholder's daily limit (which are set, in the same way as cash withdrawals, between the bank and its customer when signing the CB card contract). The transaction may be declined if the daily limit has been reached. This maximum daily limit, irrespective of the account balance, is an essential security feature: the cardholder is protected against having his account emptied if his card is stolen.
