2004, positive results
For the CB bank card, the years pass with reassuring regularity… and figures rise at a steady pace. The first indicator, the number of CB bank cards, has continued its even climb with over 49.1 million cards now in circulation. The same upward trend is reported for CB bank card payments that totalled 220 billion (for 4.65 billion payments) in 2004, a figure which now represents 25% of household expenditure and 36.5% of payments in the euro zone. The most commonly used method of payment (39.2% compared with 29% for cheques) in France the bank card has continued its inexorable penetration into sectors with high growth potential: for example, up 41% for public services, 30% for dentists, 19% for taxis, etc. And this groundswell will simply get bigger this year!
