Introduction of the e-rsb network, migration to EMV on track... in this first half of 2005, Cartes Bancaires CB is in the process of completing two major projects, and has its sights more than ever set on Europe where there are an increasing number of initiatives to create a real Single Euro Payment Area. The aim of SEPA is to ensure that euro zone bank cards can be used everywhere within the European domestic market under the same conditions as in their country of issue, and with the same or even better level of efficiency as in the best currently available system. In this context, Cartes Bancaires CB is very well positioned to play a leading role and to promote the adoption of its standards. The CB payment system (the largest in the euro zone with 35% of payments) is simple and secure for the user and, because of its inter-bank capabilities and minimal transaction costs, is seen as a model in Europe. More details can be found in our feature section: a timely subject as we move ever closer to SEPA!
