A bankcard whose use requires systematic authorisation is one of the means of payment being put forward by the CCSF (Financial Sector Consultative Committee) for individuals who have had their chequebook facilities withdrawn.

By the end of the first half of 2005, the CCSF (Financial Sector Consultative Committee) will be presenting a package of payment methods for people who have been forbidden from holding a cheque account. The main feature will be a bankcard with systematic payment authorisation. In the meantime, the French Ministry of Finance will have carried out trials with local communities in two pilot regions. The aim will be to determine what is needed to ensure that this card is an accepted method of payment for all municipal family services (school canteens, crèches, etc.). This is an important decision that will further boost the visibility of the CB bankcard in the public sector.
