e-rsb, record after record
With over 50 million bankcards and a steady increase in the number of transactions, this year again the CB system has reached several historic milestones. From Monday, 27th June to Sunday, 3rd July - the first week of the summer sales - cardholders made massive use of their cards, with almost 174 million transactions by CB card, that is to say, nearly 10% more than in a normal week.
A new record was even set on Saturday 1st October with 9.3 million authorisations, that is, around 34.5 million CB card transactions. On average, the number of authorisations exceeds 5 million a day. It comes as no surprise that Saturday is the most intensive day for consumer activity with two peaks: the first between 10.00 and 11.00 am, and the second between 3.00 and 6.00 pm. At this point, e-rsb can manage peaks of up to 400 authorisations a second with a response time of under 1 second.
