CB defines the rules for the functioning of the CB system: contractual rules, networks, and functional and security standards for cards, hardware and community services.
CB must make sure that the products that are used on the field and the industrial processes that generate these products are compliant with functional and security standards.
CB certification is the technical process for performing this check:
- A manufacturer who wishes to sell a product within the CB system must first have it approved.
- A merchant that belongs to the CB system must use an approved CB terminal.
- A CB member bank must deliver, to its cardholders, bank cards that are approved by the Group.
Also, CB certification is concerned when referencing the Certification Organisations and Laboratories, which are stakeholders in the CB certification scheme. The certification scheme has been established in accordance with European requirements (SEPA).
It is the CB Certification Centre which, within the Group, manages the CB certification policy and controls the various processes of CB approval.
